Having the honor to welcome all respectable delegates and accompanying persons, I am pleased to announce that the 4th Asian Regional Conference & the 10th International Seminar on Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM) will be held in Tehran, Iran during May 2-5, 2007.
The Long-term water resources Development Strategy of the I.R. of Iran, particularly emphasizes on decentralization and water users’ participation in management, establishing and maintaining PIM sustainability, training farmers, as well as, modifying rules and regulations to enhance the efficiency of irrigation and drainage efforts throughout the country.
IRNCID as the host, has 1960 members representing NGOs, government agencies, research institutes, universities and individual experts who are active in the field of Irrigation & Drainage. IRNCID has conducted more than 40 international and national conferences and technical workshops during the last decade .These experiences grant IRNCID the strong capability to successfully organize and manage ICID regional and International events.
I am confident that the 4th Asian Regional Conference & 10th International Seminar on PIM will offer a great opportunity to all concerned scientists, engineers, specialists, and interested participants to exchange ideas and transfer technologies relevant to water users and PIM in Iran, and other countries.
