1) ICID History Seminar on Irrigation and Drainage
The Iranian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (IRNCID) has proposed to co-host with WG-HIST, an ICID History Seminar on Lessons Learned from the Historical Development and Management of Water in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions during the 4th Asian Regional Conference in Teheran in May, 2007. The theme of the seminar and topics to be covered are ‘Historical Lessons and Wisdom related to Development and Management of Water in Arid and Semi- Arid Areas: Technical, Institutional, Environmental and Social issues’. A one day technical tour related to the subject of the seminar will also be organized.

2) Meeting and 2nd Special Session of Task Force for Least Developed Countries in Asia (TF-LDCSAS)
During the 53 rd International Executive Council (IEC) meetings in Montreal , Canada (2002), it was resolved to take a pro-active stance and create a "Knowledge Base" to understand the problems faced by the LDCs, so that it could identify areas, where ICID could assist these countries. To further identify the possible areas of assistance, a Task Force for identifying Priority Issues for Least Developed Countries in Asia (TF-LDCsAS) was set up on 31 March 2003. The TF-LDCsAS proposed its Meeting and 2nd Special Session to be held during 4th Asian Regional Conference in May 2007 at Tehran , Iran . Authors are invited to submit papers related to the following theme and areas:
Theme:
Affordable technology for the development and management of irrigation, drainage and flood control schemes in LDCs and other countries in Asia
Exemplary Areas:

Water resources development, sharing and management, including ways to improve the efficiency and equity of water delivery by equipping large systems with secondary "in-system" storage facilities that serve as regulating/ buffer ponds to settle the temporal and volumetric gaps between the water supply from the head works and the water demands of the farmers

Capacity building / technology transfer

3) Meeting of Working Group on Irrigated Agriculture under Drought and Water Scarcity (WG-IADWS)
The ICID Working Group on Irrigated Agriculture under Drought and Water Scarcity will hold a half day workshop on the occasion of the 4th Asian Regional Conference. In this workshop the final draft of the WG outcomes will be presented. Inter alia the following topics will be discussed in this workshop:
 Appropriate indices to describe drought severity;
 Drought management strategies;
 Drought warning systems;
 Utilization of unconventional water resources.
