The ideal time to visit Iran is in the spring which is normally moderate. The temperature during the Tehran Conference in May is between 19 – 25ºC.

Government office hours are from 07:30 to 16:00, Saturday through Wednesday. Thursdays and Fridays are counted as the week-end. However, almost all of the private businesses are open from 09:00 to 19:00 and bank hours are from 08:00 to 15:00.

Although the official currency in Iran is the Iranian Rial, Iranians usually talk in terms of Tomans, a unit equal to 10 Rials (written prices are usually expressed in Rials).

One U.S. Dollar is equivalent to approximately 9000 Rials as of July 2005. Cash currencies such as the U.S. Dollar, Euro, Swiss Franc and Canadian Dollar can be exchanged at most Banks and Hotels.

There is plenty of shopping opportunities while in Tehran mainly for handicrafts, clothing, leather goods, jewelry and antiques. Elsewhere, in all major tourist sites, there are plenty of souvenirs to satisfy every taste and budget. The old and new bazaars are everywhere to experience some good shopping.

220 volt electric plugs are predominantly used in Iran.

All foreign visitors are required to have a valid visa to enter Iran. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your intended departure to Iran.
